This spirit Aperitif’ is produced by distilling shiraz wine through a variety of botanicals. Staying true to the traditional Absinthe of the 16th century, this spirit is pot-distilled with the botanicals suspended in the hood of the still, which produces a double infusion, having the effect of imparting a myriad of flavours.
The main aroma upon swirling, is of liquorice, which comes from the South African worm-wood. Notes of anise, fennel, cardamom and nutmeg also add to this spirits’flavour.
Franschhoek Absinthe is best enjoyed after a meal, served at a cool temperature, or at the beginning of an evening to get the party started!
